UK TEEN MISSING FOR 6 YEARS FOUND SAFE AND ALIVE IN FRANCE

By J.L.Ruston

Last Wednesday, a caring truck driver picked up a hitch-hiker walking in the rain near Toulouse in France at 3am, and was surprised to learn that his young guest was missing UK teen Alex Batty.

Originally from Oldham, greater Manchester, England, Alex went missing in 2017 whilst on holiday with his Mother and Grandfather, neither of whom had parental guardianship of the then 11 year old child. He is now in a young person’s center in Toulouse and prosecutors say he could be back in the UK within hours from today.

Describing Alex to police as looking ‘lost and haggard’ Fabien Accidini, the driver, learnt that he had been walking for four days looking for a a city with an embassy that could assist him in getting home.

“He said that he set off from a place in the mountains, though he didn’t say where.” Mr Accidini told local media. “I typed his name into the internet and saw that he was being looked for.”

Alex used Fabiens phone to contact his grandmother through facebook writing, “Hello Grandma, it’s me Alex. I’m in France Toulouse. I really hope you receive this message. I love you. I want to come home.”

The rescued teen had been living in the remote Pyrenean valleys, travelling in an itinerant commute, living in place to place but had been in France for the last two years.

These valley are a popular destination for people searching for alternative lifestyles which his mother had been seeking, not wanting Alex to go to school.

Ms Caruana, Alex’s Grandmother who has legal guardianship over him, has now been in touch with him and is looking forward to his return home. “I am so happy. I have spoken to him and he is well. It is such a shock.” She told the BBC.

The location of his mother and grandfather are still unknown, however authorities are still looking for them over the abduction, but the main thing is that Alex is safe and happy to be on his way home soon.
